Some history about the Lake

Moon Lake has a rich history intertwined with the early settlement and development of the region. Zalmon Pool Jr. moved to the south shore of Moon Lake in March 1818, marking one of the first known settlements in the area. The Cheeseman family established themselves on the northwest shore, becoming notable residents as the town of Theresa grew. By the 1940s, the Smith Tract featured fishing cabins, indicative of the lake’s popularity for recreational activities. Similarly, Hardy’s Bay also had fishing cabins during this time, highlighting the area’s appeal to anglers and nature enthusiasts. The historical context of these settlements reflects Theresa’s broader history, characterized by its early infrastructure developments and community-building efforts
